<p>The primary responsibility of the Content and Community Manager will be to directly manage “EP Gurus” [User-Generated Writing Program] and freelance writers and work with them to provide the highest possible content for distribution, consumption, contribution, retention and, ultimately, creation. <p>Responsibilities:</p>

<li>Manage the community team</li>
<li>Engage with users in a personal one-on-one level</li>

<p><span style="font-size: x-small;">The Climate Change Coalition Online Community Manager will use web 2.0 technologies to build and foster the development of an online community for a national coalition of aquariums communicating about climate change and the ocean. Develop a resource bank of tools for coalition members to support their work communicating the impact of climate change on the ocean to visitors. Serve as the community manager for the coalition members, motivating, encouraging, connecting, and supporting them. With the MBA web team, other staff and consultants, evaluate and adapt the online portal as needed to improve its value. With MBA staff and consultants, develop, manage, and disseminate evaluation on the health of the online community </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: x-small;">With the MBA web team and NOAA grant PIs, the Climate Change Coalition Online Community Manager will investigate new technologies and the feasibility of integrating them into the climate change coalition online portal. Design and maintain an active coalition online community and web portal using creative technologies and strong communication skills. Assist in technology training and provide ongoing technology support to staff and coalition members. With outside experts and staff, evaluate the use of technological tools by coalition members. Participate in planning meetings, actively, thoughtfully, creatively and constructively. Maintain professional standards and priorities consistent with the Aquarium&#8217;s mission, values, guiding principles, strategies, imperatives and annual goals. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: x-small;">Knowledge/Experience Required:</span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: x-small;">Strong writing skills, capable of engaging coalition members and building online community.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: x-small;">Demonstrated ability to support online communities, whether professionally or personally.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: x-small;">Experience with podcasting, blogging, online communities, digital imaging and film editing, and website evaluation; experience with both PC and Mac platforms.</span></li>

The main objective of this position is to create and manage community-generated content and construct a network of community voices. You will be working with community bloggers, social networking programs, web-aggregate modules, and Press Democrat staff-produced content, as well as providing original community-based content, all of which will be used across our various Web sites, including pressdemocrat.com and our hyperlocal town-based sites. The ideal candidate is someone who is eager to be creative in the rapidly-changing media landscape, is a strong team player, and has excellent communication skills. Solid news judgment, a sense for what drives traffic and local interest, and a willingness to innovate and experiment are musts. You&#8217;ll be working with a highly-focused, skilled online team as well as an award-winning newsroom. Your role will be one of assisting with developing new content, new voices and new products, all to advance the Press Democrat&#8217;s longstanding mission as the leading news and information source for the North Bay region. Strong familiarity with social networking programs, wikis and similar programs is preferred. Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: </span></p>

<p>We can’t do enough for our members – but we can try! Helium’s Community Director is a broad role, encompassing community management (retention) and community development (marketing). This individual will be responsible for ensuring the continued satisfaction, motivation and support of our growing volunteer network as well as our active (and vocal) membership; in addition to overseeing our new member outreach efforts. Our members write, mentor other writers, self-publish and freelance for major publishers. The ideal candidate will approach work with a sense of fun and be enthusiastic about working with teams of people both online and off.</p>
<p>What You&#8217;ll Do<br />
You are responsible for empowering and maintaining the enthusiasm of the Helium volunteer Stewards as well as keeping tabs on the writing community members.<br />
• Form strong bonds in the Helium community through social networking, email, board postings, blogging and more.<br />
• Ensure overall community vibrancy<br />
• Consult with senior members in defining community, purpose and criteria for success<br />
• Develop and manage incentive programs that motivate members and reward their participation<br />
• Expand Helium’s membership of writers though partnerships with writing organization, non profits and other organizations<br />
• Leverage social networking sites (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc) to expand awareness of Helium and attract new members.<br />
• Contribute to the development of best practices and process / service innovations</p>
<p>Requirements:</p>
<p>• Bachelor’s degree<br />
• 5 to 7 years relationship management and marketing experience<br />
• Strong organization and follow-thru skills with a &#8220;getting it done&#8221; approach<br />
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with far-flung members and in-house teams<br />
• Must have experience with social networking tools (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc)<br />
• Must be detail oriented and able to multi task<br />
